The Geography

Sol is a cosmic map built around our own solar system. The 4432ร—2528 battlefield places Sol and the inner planets among a much wider field of outer planets, moons, dwarf planets, asteroids, and named spacecraft. It is less a single continent than a connected system of opportunities: every orbit is another border, route, or buffer.

The roster moves outward from Terra, Luna, Mercury, Venus, and Mars to Jupiter and its moons, Saturn and its moons, Uranus, Neptune, and the distant dwarf-planet groups. Asteroid names and the Neptune Trojans fill the spaces between. The result is a map where distance and direction matter as much as the territory immediately beside you.

The Battlefield

Terrain Overview

The map contains 53 named nations, with 47 additional custom tribes scattered across the system. The spawn list mixes planetary powers with satellite groups and exploratory markers such as Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11, and Voyager 2. Sol and the inner planets form a natural centre of attention, while the outer-system names create room for quieter openings and long-range expansion.

Best Spawns

  • Terra or Mars โ€” central-system starts with several recognizable neighbours and clear routes into the inner system
  • Jupiter and its moons โ€” a cluster of related positions that rewards coordination, timing, and control of nearby approaches
  • A distant dwarf planet โ€” more breathing room at the edge of the map, at the cost of a longer route back toward the main action

Avoid

  • An isolated moon with no nearby reinforcement โ€” distance can become a trap when a stronger neighbour controls the route inward
  • The most crowded inner-system positions โ€” early contact is almost guaranteed, so a weak opening can leave little room to recover

Strategic Insights

Treat the map as a set of overlapping neighbourhoods rather than one front line. Secure the positions around your starting world first, then choose whether to push inward toward Sol or outward toward the dwarf-planet and asteroid groups. The 20-playlist frequency makes Sol a common map, but its many named positions keep openings varied: scouting and route planning are as important as the first conquest.

Fun Facts

  • Sol includes planets, moons, dwarf planets, asteroids, Trojan groups, and spacecraft in one playable roster
  • Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto each have multiple named associated positions on the map
  • The mapโ€™s metadata lists 47 custom tribes in addition to its 53 nations
