Yellow Sea
A compact contest between China and Korea
Nations 8
The Geography
Yellow Sea places the Korean Peninsula opposite the Chinese coast around Shandong, Liaoning, Hebei and the Bohai approaches. The 1500Γ1152 map is 60% land and contains eight major regional starts. Bays and peninsulas break the central sea into short crossing distances, while continental terrain gives both shores room to expand.
The History
The Yellow Sea has long carried trade and conflict between northern China and Korea. Naval campaigns during the First Sino-Japanese War of 1894β1895 and later fighting around the Korean Peninsula showed how control of these compact waters could influence power on both shores.
The Battlefield
The sea is a central flank rather than a remote boundary. Korea offers a narrow north-south front; Chinaβs coast has greater depth but several neighbouring powers. Shandong and Liaoning can project toward multiple shores, making their ports especially valuable. Consolidate your side first, watch the short maritime crossings and use a fleet to force opponents to defend both inland and coastal fronts.
