Hong Kong
A crowded harbour of peaks, islands and districts
Nations 71
The Geography
Hong Kong turns one of the worldβs densest coastal regions into a large 2780Γ1996 battlefield. Victoria Harbour separates Hong Kong Island from Kowloon, while the New Territories, Lantau and dozens of outlying islands extend the fight around steep hills and narrow channels. Only 41% is land, yet the map packs in 71 district and locality starts.
The History
Hong Kong Island was ceded to Britain after the First Opium War in 1842, and the colony later expanded to Kowloon and the leased New Territories. It became a major trading and financial port before sovereignty returned to China in 1997.
The Battlefield
Space is fragmented and contact comes quickly. Harbour crossings and island chains create powerful flanks, but mountain-backed districts can be hard to reinforce. Large land areas in the New Territories and Lantau offer room to consolidate; the urban harbour core offers reach at the cost of constant pressure. Secure a connected cluster before contesting distant islands.
